The Role of Trade in Structuring Cities
The main objective of the workshop is to examine and exemplify the role of trade and trade routes in shaping urban structuring, from the scale of urban relationships to the scale of urban and building typologies.
Objective
Bringing together theorists, local and foreign experts and practitioners working on Urban and Trade to share and discuss their work.
Within the framework of the workshop, a symposium/workshop will be organized by inviting experts from 10 upper scales to the building scale and experts involved in the implementation and publication of the works.
Significance and Rationale
To study the role of trade from the past to the present on cities, to examine the role of trade in new settlement models to be created, to study the role of trade in urban planning, to present the study as a printed publication.
Target Audience
Those who work on the city, theorists, academics, urbanists, those who think about the city and those who are in the fields of application; municipalities, architects and planners, people in urban management.
Methods
Those who have worked and are working on the subject were contacted and asked to present their work.
The study will be conducted in 4 parts;
Study trip to Istanbul and Bursa,
One-day workshop with Prof. Ebru Erdonmez Dincer, Prof. Aynur Atmaca Can, Assoc. Dr. Murat Senturk and 3 experts,
Presentation of the studies at the symposium to be organized in October and writing up of the studies as a result,
A workshop with graduate students to be held in Eminönü in October,
Presentation of the results of the workshop in Bursa in cooperation with Uludag University.
